A couple of months ago I wrote a post about this young talent from the Philippines by the name of Aldrich Lloyd Talonding (link to that post here). To recap in a few words; Aldrich’s viral video on YouTube was noticed by American comedian and talk show host Ellen Degeneres, who then invited him to come sing on her show.
Since the release of the video, Aldrich’s father was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and sadly passed away in June. Which makes the song he sung even more emotional to listen to now.
Aldrich has since become a national superstar in the Philippines and on September 12th, he and his cousin James finally made it to the Ellen show in the premiere week of the new season! Ellen interviewed the young boys and they performed the song “Dance with my father” live in the studio. Check out the video here.
I’m thrilled to pieces that these boys were given a wonderful chance to perform for such a big audience, since Ellen’s show is watched worldwide by millions daily.
Aldrich sings so naturally and with so much emotion and feeling, that it’s just awesome and you keep wanting to listen to him time and time again. I think this is one of the special qualities he possesses, that set him apart from other singers, and that will take him very far in the long run. Just how far they will go exactly, will remain to be seen, but I’m surely going to keep an eye out on these boys to watch and see how this new adventure will unfold for them.
As far as I’m concerned, I wish Aldrich and his cousin James much (continued) success! And I hope Aldrich will be given more opportunities to share his beautiful gift with us all for many more years to follow.
