This morning I exchanged a few messages on Facebook with a colleague, and in the conversation I posted the link to Weird Al Yankovic‘s parody of Michael Jackson’s BAD video. Now, if you do not yet know who Weird Al is; shame on YOU! One thing is for sure; you definitely will not forget his name after seeing his parody videos. He’s the master, the king, the ultimate maker of music video parodies! Excited much, Fauzia? 🙂 During the morning, without looking for it, I stumbled upon some news about Weird Al. (Coincedence? I think NOT!)

Weird Al is releasing 8 videos in 8 days , starting from the 14th of July (yesterday). The reason behind it? Promotion for his new album by the name of: Mandatory Fun. And this is a really cool and funny way to do it! It reminds me of what Beyonce did with the release of her visual album. The first video initially will only be available on the Nerdist website and on Weird Al’s own website. The other videos will be available on Weird Al’s YouTube channel too.

The first release (July 14th) is a parody of the Pharrell Williams‘ song Happy, named Tacky. The way the video was shot, reminds me of the original Pharrell video of Happy, only in the crazy Weird Al style. 🙂

Weird Al’s video is loaded with Hollywood (comedy) stars! Some of the names to the faces I’m sure you will recognize are: Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal and Jack Black. The video is hi-la-ri-ous! I simply LOVE his lyrics! It might be a bit hard to understand (or you may miss the jokes) if you don’t pay close attention to every single word he sings. It all goes so fast! So you definitely need to put it on repeat.

Weird Al is making it so cool to be tacky! Check it out for yourself via THIS link. And keep an eye out for the other videos, as they will be released daily! Like the second one (released today), called: Word Crimes (a parody to Robin Thicke‘s Blurred Lines). 🙂

Tacky to you later!
